Great news!

So, I'm super excited. My husband and I have had a goal of paying off all of the debt outside of our house by the time I graduate (this summer). Friday, we were talking about how much money we make and what we need to pay off, and we realized that we can have all our debt outside of our house payed off in August. However, here's the best part: (but first I have to explain a something.) Tim and I have been married for two years, and we have been super broke for two years. Tim has worked multiple jobs (sometimes 4 at a time) while I've been in school and worked also. About 5 or so months ago, Tim quit his two jobs and started working full time selling computers. We aren't making a ton of money, but we are making about twice as much money as we were making before. What we have decided to do is to up our standard of living a little bit, and then pay off our debt and save a ton of money. So, (here's the great part!) if we keep living on about 20K and we keep making as much as we are making right now, we can pay off our house in about 2 years! Maybe I'm a dork, but that's so exciting to me!!!!! So, right now, we are about to have a budget date to figure out a timeline of when we will pay off everything. yay!!!

Wow Beth, that's great! I totally understand your excitement. I'm not broke but I have some major money issues. I don't need to be rich and have a ton of luxury things, but I never want to struggle for money.
I recommend doing what you talked about- a timeline, but also do a spreadsheet of all you bills. I did that a few years ago and realized how much I owed on my car, credit cards and more, and I started paying things off and closing the account.
I screwed myself a little over two years ago though, I bought a new SUV. If it wasn't for that, I would be doing great right now and putting plenty in savings. Oh well, you learn from your mistakes.
Congrats and good luck!!

Thats a pretty big accomplishment. Some people don;t understand the importance of a budget, and that anyone can live comfortable if they work hard and just budget. Congratulations.
